Theres an app called SMCfancontrol that Ive been aware of for a long time, but it only allows you to set a minimum speed for the fans. Just recently, I updated my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 Edition) to the 10.7.5 OS X version and now I've realised I'm not able to open programs that I've downloaded from the internet.
